School Grrrl Sass

Top// Thrifted
Skirt// Thrifted
Bag//my own
Shoes// Vintage via Mom

So, I know it's been some time sinse I've posted on here, my life has been pretty busy in the past week. This was actually my work outfit last Thursday ( I'm being such a slacker!). The new job is so far so good, I'm happy to be able to work on the city, as opposed to boring suburbia. I think this skirt must have belonged to somebody's catholic school uniform, it's made from that poly material that you only know if you've ever had to wear a god-awful uniform, which I did. But I think it fits amazingly.
My style posts may become a bit sporadic because I'm finally getting around to renovating my bedroom!
My room is kind of it's own entity. I took out all my weird teen angst on my walls, and it's time for a redux. I even spray painted the walls, some with real spray paint, and when I was in middle school I sprayed the walls with the temporary spray hair dye you can get from party city. My ceiling had pennies, candy hearts, and pez dispensers glued to it. I was a strange kid.
I also have little drawings of tampons with angry faces scattered all over the room. Angst many other lovely illustrations. Again, strange kid. I covered most of it up with giant posters, ad you can probably see, and now everything is off the walls and it looks SO weird.
I'm excited for a grown up room, now!

Stay tuned for updates <3

Working Grrrl

Dress// Audrey
Shoes// BCBG

What I wore to my first day and my new jobby job!
I love it already, and I'm excited to go in tomorrow. I'm bringing some of my weirdo knick knacks for my desk area.
Getting to decorating my work space in an office in Manhattan makes me feel so grown up. Except that the things I'm decorating it with include my ceramic sock monkey, glittery gel pens, and my nun-zilla wind up toy. You wind her up and she walks and shoots tiny sparks out of her mouth. Perfect for someone who endured nuns at catholic school as a child. She can whip me into shape when I'm slacking at work! I may position her on my desk so she's staring my straight in the eye.
These shoes are new, and I walked a lot today. I have tiny new shoes blisters. Time for a bubble bath!

Pack Rat

Dress// Target
Vest// F21
Shoes// Steve Madden
Necklace// Betsey Johnson

So, today was supposed to be a pretty big one, my first day at my new job! But it has been postponed to tomorrow. Womp womp! There are worse things than an accidental day off, right?
I think I'll spend my time strolling to the post office, braking in my new jelly flats, then maybe I'll go thrifting and to the art store. It's beautiful out!
That's pretty much all I got to report, stay tuned to see what this punk ass feminist considers "business casual attire"!!

Hearts and Stripes

Top// Ju Ju Samuse
Skirt // Betsey Johnson
Necklace // Betsey Johnson
Shoes // Indigo
Mixing patterns is kinda my thing. I like figuring out good ways to pull it off.

So, today is my last day at the pottery studio! I am SO excited to move on the bigger and better things. And I get my weekends back! I've worked almost every Saturday for the past 3 1/2 years. It's going to be nice to not have to do that anymore and enjoy my weekends off like a normal working human.

Off I go! I also gotta train my replacement today... yay?

Day to Night Cliche Post

Ok everybody, here it is, one of my first cliche style blog posts! I like the baby doll look of this dress, and being as I was going out to dinner (to celebrate me getting a new jobbie job) I wanted to use the opportunity to swap it into a night-time look. Bottom line: black tights are key, haha! I swapped the sneakers and socks for black tights pairs to strappy short wedges, and lost the glasses. Voila!

Pastels and Zombie Jesus

Dress // Coincidence and Chance
Locket // Vintage via Grandma
Shoes // Thrifted

I'm the kind of person that will take any opportunity to dress up and grab it by the horns. I got this dress last summer to wear to my boyfriend's graduation party. I'm loving the marigold color, I'm obsessed with it. The pleats give this great girly flowey effect, and I love the color combination with the pastel pink of my shoes.

So right now we're waiting for my brother to get here (late as usual) and we're heading upstate to my uncles house for Easter. And he's bringing London the doggy with him, I'm excited to see my furry nephew!

I think I just heard the door, which means the dog (and my brother) are here! I'm off to go eat peeps and drink white wine!

Little Floral Dress

Dress // H&M
Brooch // Amber from Fight Boredom Distro
Shoes // Vans

I love this cutesy look. It was good to wear to work, shoes were comfortable.

So, I'm opening up a new chapter in my life, officially! I am leaving my job at the pottery store, to focus more on my own business as well as my brand new job in the city. It's an end of an era, and I liked the job while it last but its time for me to move on, and I can't be more excited. I'm the kind of person that welcomes change and I love opening new doors. This is really big for me, because I kinda felt like I was in this suburban rut for the last couple of months and I am SO excited to see what the future holds. I be keeping ya updated for sure :)
One thing I'm sure about, I'm very glad to be done with dealing with snobby parents and their awful bratty satan children. Or when I would orchestrate their child's birthday party and clean up after a mess of 20 7-year olds as they go back to their mansion and don't tip me. That I will NOT miss.
Hooray, new life changes, and no more brats!

Greener Pastures

Dress // F21
Belt // Thrifted
Socks // F21
Shoes // Steve Madden
Button // Courtesy of moi!

Listening to // Tegan and Sara

I love how I have an endless access to all my accessory stock, I love making things I sell for myself, I can wear my own art. How awesome.

And big news!! I snagged myself a NEW JOB! I'm so super excited. it's pretty much going to replace my current gig at the pottery shop, which I've had for almost 5 years now. It's officially time to move on to bigger and better things. And it's in Manhattan which I am so thrilled about. I get to leave the suburbs for most of the week. Its a design gig near soho, and it seems I will fit in very well at the studio. AND it fits perfectly into my schedule AND is 2 blocks from where my boyfriend works. Guaranteed lunch date every day! I start in a few weeks, and of course I am a bit nervous but I'm sure everything is going to turn out great. YAY!

New season, new adventures and experiences :)

Grrrl Style Meow!

Shirt // Lost Records on Etsy
Brooch // Cakeeater on Etsy
Skirt // F21
Boots // Doc Martens

Listening to // The Pixies

The only places I went today outside of the house was the post office and to walk the dog, and my outfit was it goes. I was so pumped to receive this brooch the other day, it's glittery and says riot grrrl. Etsy is like my one and only someone. And I'm also completely still in the honeymoon phase of my haircut. I re-dyed it my usual black today, and it's so shiny and glorious!
And who doesn't like Sleater Kinney AND cats?! Sheesh.

My, My Mailbox 4/2/12

I've been slacking on this segment! Shame, shame!

My mailbox has been very happy as of late, so I have quite  a lot of material for this segment for the near future, but here's just a few.

C.L.A.P. Zine (Creative Ladies are Powerful)// DoublePeace on Etsy

A feminist zine written by a collective of creative folks. The cover is one of my favorite drawings by Sydney. I enjoyed reading this zine because its very organized in to segments like an actual magazine, but still keeps the xeroxed zine aesthetic that I hold so close and dear to my heart.
Some of the content is really handy, theres an advice column, a poetry section, AND my favorite part of this zine, is their interview with Marissa Moss, who created the children's book series Amelia's notebook back in the 90's. Which I was OBSESSED with as a kid. If you weren't familiar with or read Amelia's notebook, it was about a girl (name Amelia, duh) and her journal/notebook. The series was all of her journal entries, set up in handwritten type and doodles sprawled across the pages. Much like a perzine, now that I think of it. It was so awesome. The zine also has some helpful articles and women's health and all that. So, I pretty much loved everything about CLAP zine. I hope to possibly contribute sometime in the future!

Cathartic Method// a perzine by Heather NickelPlatedAngel on Etsy

I saw a picture of the cover of this zine on my tumblr feed, and it has a cat on the cover. And I love perzines, so I bought it, and I'm glad I did. This zine talks a lot about self care and different methods of taking care of yrself, and loving yourself, because hey, its important. Theres also lots of random musings in the zine that I found amusing, and it made me smile.

Mend my Dress// by Neely Bat Chesnut, NeelyBat on Etsy

I'm sure I'm not alone when I say that i love Neely's work/writing. Theres something about Neely's personal writing that's mysterious, but but just the right amount, and the feeling of her zines stick with you. I also am drawn to the format, folded up like a brochure with drawings, collages, and stickers making them one of the most visually appealing zines I own.
